:welcome: johnny15>

Given your budget, I think your choice is between the GTX 750 ti and the r7 260X > http://www.tomshardw...iew,3107-3.html

The cards are very similar in performance, one is better in some games and visa versa. > http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/06/23/asus_r7_260x_directcu_ii_oc_video_card_review/1#.VKvdsdKUf6E

My choice would be the GTX, lower power requirements, less heat, and Nvidia G-sinc

Prices.

I was thinking Thinking of this one  :

Sapphire Radeon R7 260X 2GB (11222-17-20G)

but whats the difference from this one?

Sapphire Radeon R7 260X 2GB (11222-06-20G)

but after some searching

I think I'll pay a little more and get this one  :

EVGA GeForce GTX750 Ti 2GB (02G-P4-3751-KR)

what do you say?

Gday.

info from Sapphire tech:

11222-00-20G version
1. http://www.sapphiret...oduct/produc...

11222-06-20G version
2. http://www.sapphiret...oduct/produc...

The first one is 8.46" long and has 1 extra DVI (DVI-D), a bit more video memory (6600 MHz Effective) and core clock (1150mhz) , also it says that supports up to 4 monitors. The second one from the link is 6.96" long, does not comes with an extra DVI, vid mem is 6000 Mhz, clock is 1050mhz, and is up to 3 monitors for display.

Source, tom's hardware.

Yes EVGA GeForce GTX750 Ti 2GB (02G-P4-3751-KR) is good choice, but look to see if you can fit the 02G-P4-3757-KR which is clocked higher, has 2 fans, it is 9.50" long and the same price, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814487028

You are welcome johnny15.

No, The present CPU will support the GTX 750 ti, an upgrade would gain you very little performance.   The system, being older tech, is not worth spending any more money on, it should last you for years.   If your son wants more performance for gaming, it would be time for a complete new build.

Have your purchased the card yet?

I wanted to be able to play newer games  but didn't have money to invest in a new system, so this should do the trick!

Gday.

The card get some rather bad reviews.     Take note of the Standard VGA return policy just in case you get a bad one.

Thank you for keeping us up to date.

Good luck.

Not heard from your for a while.   Did you upgrade the GPU?  How is performance now? An update would be appreciated.
