I have a virus/adware installed on my PC and am unable to get rid of it. I currently run Zone Alarm 4.5.530, and Norton Internet Security/Norton Antivirus 2004 with definitions updated as of 6/10/2005.

I have run norton virus-scan after live-update and it did not find or remove the virus. This virus is affecting my internet explorer, causing a new browser window (w/o any controls) to open about every 10 minutes or so, and also about every 4th or 5th webpage I go to it opens a random page on its own instead of the page I requested - I need to hit "back" to get to the page I wanted. There seems to be a list of about 10 different pages that it may go to, each an adult or a gambling related page - indeed these are added to the "favorites" of my browser

As mentioned I have Zone ALarm and Norton running, Nornton will not detect much less remove it. I installed the latest Ad-Aware, it has not removed it. I ran the removal tool from mocrosoft.com, also unsuccessful

- sometimes i get a window popup saying "Windows Security Center" WARNING: Windows Firewall detected suspicious network activity on your computer, Malicious software codes try to steal your privacy information, such as credit card numbers, electronic mail accounts, financial data or passwords. Do you want to learn how to protect your computer?" and its got the YES NO button but i always click the upper-right "X"/Close to get rid of it.

- i keep getting extra favourite files in my favourite folder section.. i deleted them heaps of times but it keeps coming back after a reboot.. so heres the list in my favourite folder...

AdultGambling
Free Online Dating
[bleep] Real Girls
Kill Annoying Popups
Online Sex Poker Rooms
Play Adult-Poker
Remove Toolbars
Spyware Uninstall
SPYWARE
XXX Personal Photos

I did not see anything unusual in the Registry (under /run options for both hkey_current_user and hkey_local_machine), nor under task manager/ processes, or services, or add-remove programs. everything "appeared" normal
