You did remember to recheck the items in Startup in msconfig?

Start, All Programs, Accessories, then right click on Command Prompt and Run As Admin.

Type:

ipconfig

and hit Enter.

You should get something like:

C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

   Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.102
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

C:\Windows\system32>

What does your says for:

 IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . :
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . .
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . .

While I was waiting, I went back in to msconfig and checked services and startup to make sure that I had not missed something.
In startup everything that needed to be was checked and then in services, I found 6 of the microsoft items had been overlooked. I was going to start them one at a time but didn't... long story short, i am connectd on the desktop again, I uninstalled and reinstalled the sound drivers again and have sound again but now we are hanging on reboot again. So my best guess is the whole issue is a MS service but I have no idea which one so am guessing I am going to have to go in and play turn off/on until I find it.

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

You have been great through this and I am so thankful that this service is out there.

Funny that the MS services were off.  They should have all been on since we hid them before unchecking.

When you find out which one is causing the trouble we can probably fix it.
