Having problem with MIC

Hi folks, have tried to uninstall my MIC and reinstall it, had problems with this a few weeks back and got it working by removing the actual card and replacing it but this time no joy. Running XP and the card is a Realtek A97 audio. I went on line and downloaded the newest driver and tried to install it, all went well but when tried to use still no luck.... suggestions?
