First, right-click on the desktop and go to "New > Folder". Name it whatever you want. Locate HiJackThis.exe on the desktop. Right-click on it and go to "cut" go into the folder you just made, right-click an open space a click paste. (Please let me know if you have any problems right-clicking your desktop BEFORE continuing with the rest).

Copy everything in the code box below and paste it into notepad. Go up to File > Save As, then click the drop-down box to select "All Files" save it as AVGoldfix.reg - we will use this later.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components\1]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Intel system tool"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AntivirusGold]

*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing Control + C

C:\Windows\System32\hookdump.exe
C:\Windows\System32\winnook.exe
C:\Windows\desktop.html
C:\Windows\screen.html

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt if you get one.
*If the computer does not reboot by itself, do it manually.

While your computer is restarting, tap the F8 key continually until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Doubleclick the AVGoldfix.reg we made earlier.

Delete the entire folder, if present:

C:\Program Files\AntiVirusGold

In the Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize desktop > Website > Uncheck "Security Info"

Then boot back to normal, run HijackThis, place a check next to the following items, if found, and click FIX CHECKED:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=explorer.exe, msmsgs.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RegSvr32] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msmsgs.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Intel system tool] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe

Close HiJackThis.

Delete the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msmsgs.exe

Reboot again and post a new HiJackThis log into this topic.

We're not quite done yet...are you having any problems when you right-click on the desktop (do you get the normal menu)?

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

Viewpoint

Exit Add or Remove Programs.

* Run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C

C:\WINDOWS\system32\WINUPD.EXE

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt. If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

After your computer reboots, run HiJackThis. Place a check next to the following items, if found, and click FIX CHECKED:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows Updater] WINUPD.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Windows Updater] WINUPD.EXE

Close HijackThis.

Download, install, and run CleanUp! (so the below scan won't take as long because cleanup will clear temporary files and cookies) Cleanup! deletes EVERYTHING out of temporary/temp files and does not make backups. If you have anything you need in temporary folders, back it up or move it prior to running cleanup!

Then, please run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log.
