I tried to use the Recovery Partition but it only went through 60% or near that and would quit

but I was talking with a mate who had a disk and did it from that,

as for safety online - what anti-virus would u recommend?

ive had malwarebytes and AVG for years. free versions

is AVG still up there with the best or is there better

Hi. :)

I tried to use the Recovery Partition but it only went through 60% or near that and would quit
but I was talking with a mate who had a disk and did it from that,

Did you try the Recovery Partition more than once ?

With regard to using this other disk you mentioned, do you mean used a stand alone Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Installation DVD and used this to reinstall the Operating System and in turn used the Product Key for the aforementioned disk ?

Or do you mean a HP Recovery Disk and used your own Product key ?
