Hello,

Okay, well firstly around a week ago i had malware on my computer i tried removing the malware in safe mode with avg and malwarebytes but both could not detect it, so i ended up factory resetting my computer 2 times.

The wipe was perfectly fine and all the malware was gone

However when i play games now i encounter huge lag spikes around every 5 seconds. For example in csgo i could play with everything maxed getting around 200/300 fps consistently however now i cannot play the game as the lag is so bad but i still get consistently the same fps with no drops and my ping never spike staying at around 40.

I dont really know much about malware but i have a recovery drive partition on my hard drive in which i didnt reset so i can only guess that some of the malware is in there otherwise i have no clue why im suddenly getting such bad lag

My specs are:

Asrock extreme 4 z77 motherboard

Nivida geforce 760 superclocked 2 gig

8gb vengence ram

2tb harddrive

and windows 8

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can share.

Hi Daniel Thresher :)

Did you update your graphic card drivers to their latest version after reinstalling Windows on your drive or not?

Hi Daniel,

There are multiple reasons of lag, one of them is graphics lag . It is a very basic issue for any gamer. For graphics lag solution, firstly open your game setting menu then select the graphics option in order to reduce your game texture and resolution until the game runs smoothly, while still holding acceptable graphics.

Although you need to perform some small but effective steps like:

1. Open your Windows Task Manager and close all unnecessary programs while you are playing the game. As it prevents extra free RAM usage which helps in improving your game performance.

2.Use any free cloud based antivirus software like http://www.immunet.com/, https://www.avira.com/ in your system.

3.Upgrade your system RAM or delete all unnecessary programs from your system.

2.Use any free cloud based antivirus software like http://www.immunet.com/, https://www.avira.com/ in your system.

With these specs, using a cloud Antivirus won't make any differences on the system. It can handle every other Antivirus programs just fine.

3.Upgrade your system RAM or delete all unnecessary programs from your system.

Same as below, 8GB is more than enough to handle every PC games there is right now, so there's no need to upgrade his RAM. And since this is a new installation of Windows, I doubt there's any bloat installed on it.

I would advise trying this before anything else.

Please let us know if you still need help or if you have the issue resolved, Daniel Thresher.

Hi  Aura,

Agree with you in 3rd point 8 GB is more enough for every PC game but main reason of lag in PC is slow internet, slow PC or any other strong malware program. Some PC games download lots of unnecessary  heavy files with them thats why i suggest him to remove all unnecessary programs from his computer or upgrade ram.

For 2nd point  I have suggested cloud based security to denial, as it seems that denial system still has some malware left even after the use of some traditional antivirus programs like AVG & Malwarebyte. And also I personally prefer to use cloud based security over traditional for fixing today's sophisticated threats.

A lot of Antivirus now incorporates a "Cloud protection mode", like Kaspersk, ESET and Emsisoft. Also, Malwarebytes isn't an Antivirus, but an Antimalware.
