Hi

My computer does not recognise my Portable HDD when I plug it into my USB port.

The blue light is on and you can feel the unit vibrating so I assume it is working.

Help please...I have data backed up on here that I need.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Try it on a different computer. If it won't work there then the problem is with the external HDD. If it works the problem is with your laptop.

Do you get the connect sound when you hook it up to the laptop?

Does it show in Disk Management? If yes, try assigning a drive letter to it.
