C-Media Sound Card problems with Nero Ultra

Having difficulty using CMedia CM 81738 _WDM . Apparently some settings have gotten scrambled. At one point in time I could record using Nero Wave Editor and while it was recording from exterior source the wave sound coming in would play through desktop speakers. In order to to that now I have to select "Digital" on Nero Sound Wave Editor Which I never had to do before. I re-installed the driver for the sound card but to no avail.
