Hi guys, I'm new to all of this but was just wondering if I can get some help here. Basically i wanted to create a financial website and came across this website: http://www.microcapsearch.com/. I just want to understand how this feature on the website was done. As you guys can see if you guys click on the link, theres a space where you can enter a stock ticker symbol of your choice in there and the website will then bring search results that are respective to each category. Like if you were to type AAPL (for the company Apple, of course), it will bring up a hyperlink for the chart, Yahoo Finance statistics, press releases, etc., you guys get it lol. 

 

I was just wondering how this was possible? Is this a specific plug-in that you had to download, or something simple you can emulate? I'm an absolute noob when it comes to this stuff guys, so I'm sorry if I sound dumb. But I appreciate every help to understanding how I can create something similar to it on my website, I just want to learn. Thanks!

If you right click on the website and select View Page Source you can see how they do it.  It's written in javascript (which I'm not an  expert in having had only one class and that was quite a while ago) but I don't think you can emulate it yourself easily.  I think it's pulling the data from a local directory on the server but the directory must be populated by another process.

I'm new to WordPress and have been looking for a way to create a small website for myself as soon as possible. I will do some experiment on the designing and SEO stuffs to reach it to the higher in Google ranking for a specified keyword.
