With a desktop with XP ....I downloaded a qbasic app to my downloads folder and I double-clicked the entry to install it. And I decompressed the Zipped files to get the files shown in this screenshot. So far so good.

But how do I <<activate>> the app?

Thanks.

Dashing star: Thanks for your help.

When I doubleclick  QB.EXE (in E:\qbasic45) I get this error message:

"16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

E:\qbasic45\QB.EXE

Invalid startup directory, please check your pif file."

"pif file" ?? How do I find the "startup directory?" What do I look for?

Did you know what is this program and what purpose is used for?

As far as I know QBASIC need a computer operating system MS-DOS.
For Windows operating system is scheduled for the second programming language - Basic Liberty.
Liberty BASIC can free download from the address http://www.libertyba...m/download.html

Edit: More about Qbasic Invalid startup directory, please check your pif file

Dashing star: Thanks.

I figured out how to get the QBASIC program to run. For whatever interest it may be to others ....

  • Click Start\RUN and enter "cmd" to bring up a DOS screen.
  • Change the directory to that holding the app, in my case E:\qbasic45.
  • Enter command qb.

This brings up the QBASIC screen and you are ready to roll.
