Hi,

My pc which is a Windows Vista 32 bit sounds like it is running all the time.  What can I do to stop this.  It is really getting on my nerves.

:welcome:   jsplace2014,

Can you describe what is happening exactly as in are you shutting the computer down but can still hear the cooling fan/s running afterwards.

Can you also tell what type of computer it is, notebook or desktop, brand name such as Dell or HP etc.

Well I can't see any answers for the questions you asked for jsplace to provide you with. So I hope it's okay to jump in here and replace him/her.  I have an ACER aspire5749Z-4809.  It's about 3+ years old. It came with windows 7 home premium but now uses windows 10. The problem began a few months back. (before I upgraded to 10)  It will suddenly just start whirring like it's running sotware, such as my Trend Micro does when it's scanning the laptop.  I've looked around and there's nothing running at least not where I've looked. I went to task manager and looked at running processes etc. but I don't really know what should be or should not be running. But it does this all the time it's on. It will quiet down a little at times, but I can hear it all the time. It's kind of wigging me out and I doubt it's good for the pc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a bad feeling tho about this. Thanks emanresu3591
