[Red Hekate]

So I've had my desktop for over 3-4 years now and I want to get a new graphics card. I'm wondering if it's okay to use 2 graphic cards because I don't want to throw away my current one. Any advice would be appreciated as I don't know how these things work.

 

Right now my current graphics card is a Quadro 4000. I was looking at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960. Is there something I need to know if you have to find something compatible? Thank you as I am completely clueless

Do your presently run the computer as a workstation?   Or is it a general purpose machine and occasional gaming? 

Your Quadro GPU is a workstation card, it has 10 bit Colour output, "Pro" drivers optimized for things like CAD/AE + Support.  You can game on it, but that's not what is designed for, and you change to a regular GTX, this would be the result.

Quadro new, about $350, possible $180 used.
