my psu is 500w with 6pin but 2 additional pins for an 8 pin

Did you open the case and confirm the brand and model of the installed PSU?

If the Aerocool is fitted, it has only one cable with a 6+2 pin plug.   The GTX 970 needs one cable with a 6+2 pin plug and a second cable with a 6 pin plug. = two cables with two separate plugs.

This is your PSU, and will not run the GTX 970 video card.   It does not have enough PCI-E cables and plugs. > http://www.aone.co.u...?ProductID=4523

You do not need new RAM, the Patriot memory will be OK with the Z97 Asus Motherboard.

Thanks for the additional assistance iammykyl  :)

The only thing that I can add is that the present PSU when independently tested only produced 456W which is almost 100W below what is recommended for the GeForce GTX 970 Gigabyte WindForce 3X OC 4GB Edition.

Gday.

Been a while since we heard from you!   Do you still need assistance?   An update would be appreciated.

Thanks.
