Something is not correct. Please do the following.

1. Click the Start button and select Run.

2. Type cmd in the Run box and click OK.

3. The command prompt window will open.

4. Copy/Paste the following into the command-prompt window and hit enter. Note: You will have to right-click in the command-prompt window and select Paste from the context menu.

reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup /s > %userprofile%\desktop\query.txt && notepad %userprofile%\desktop\query.txt

5. Notepad will open with some text. Can you copy and paste this text into your next reply?

OK, just paste in the following and hit enter. See if there is a file created on your desktop named query.txt. If so, please attach in your next reply.

reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup /s > %userprofile%\desktop\query.txt

Unfortunately we are not allowed to do that.

Please paste the following into the command-prompt window, hit enter, and let me know what it says.

reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

Thanks for the info. Please do the following.

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop. Attached File  fixlist.txt   252bytes   150 downloads
Note. It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Great.

Let's try the following again. Let me know if it goes through this time.

SFC Scan

1. Click the Start button and select Run.

2. Type cmd in the Run box and click OK.

3. The command prompt window will open.

4. Copy/Paste the following into the command-prompt window and hit enter. Note: You will have to right-click in the command-prompt window and select Paste from the context menu.

sfc /scannow

5. A Windows File Protection dialog box should appear stating "Please wait while Windows verifies that all prtected Windows files are intact and in their original versions.".

Allow this to run and let me know when it completes. Or if other dialogs come up please let me know what they are.

Thank you.
