Something sounds very wrong with my new laptop and I feel like I've tried everything. I constantly hear the hard drive working without a break. Out of all the laptops I've used i've never had one where I can constantly hear the hard drive running. Every 5-10 seconds would be better but it's not even that. It's every second and it's annoying. It's loud enough to the point where the people sitting next to me in class can hear it. And I just got this laptop a few weeks ago too. Sometimes I even hear a slight beep like noise, but I can't describe it. It also sounds like it's making a gulping/swallowing noise sometimes. What I hear every second is what you are supposed to hear when you are booting up your computer or loading a file or something. I don't think I'm supposed to hear it running all the time.

 

For the past week I've been searching online but it doesn't help. I tried disabling the search index thing but it was "processing" for an hour so I gave up and canceled it. But I also use the windows search often so at the same time I don't want to disable it. To test it out I disabled the windows search to see if that would help but it didn't so I enabled it again.

 

I really suck with computers so I don't really know what I'm doing. I kept checking task manager and all that graph stuff but I never know what I'm even looking at. I think I disabled a lot of things but nothing works. The sound is super annoying and I know it shouldn't but it bothers me when I'm trying to do work or something. Sometimes I don't even want to use my laptop because I know i'm going to get so annoyed with the sounds.

 

I have antispyware (McAfee) but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I asked my parents and they say it's normal for it to make noises like that but something tells me that it isn't. It's too annoying to be normal. My laptop also goes really slow sometimes and freezes too.

 

I have a Lenovo flex 3 running on windows 10 if that makes a difference.
