Yes that is fine.  I just thought we disabled some of those previously due to slow start up/poor performance in an earlier troubleshooting? I can try enabling all of them though.

That's possible. If you want we can go to the restore point that we made prior to any fixes which will put your system back in the state it was.

I may want to do that.  Its really slow and the laptop fan is on while I'm doing nothing so I know that a lot of resources are being used on some process I dont know about.

Will that undo the work we did though?

Another part of me wants to disable everything and see which of those processes I actually need though.

I can tell you which ones can be removed. Please do the following.

Step#1 - Review Startup Items

  • Please download Autoruns from here and save to your desktop.
  • Open the program and agree to the EULA if prompted.
  • Select the file menu and choose Run as administrator. Answer Yes to allow if prompted.
  • Give the program a couple minutes to populate.
  • Select the File menu, choose Save and save the file to your desktop. It will likely be named with your [machine name].arn which is fine.
  • Right-click on this .arn file and select Send to….compressed (zipped folder).
  • Please attach the zip file to your next post

Unfortunately it's saying the file is corrupt. Did you happen to get the newest version from the link I provided? Just want to make sure you weren't using an already existing version of this program as that may cause this issue.

If you did indeed download the newest file then please upload MIKE-PC.arn to SendSpace and just provide me the link. Don't zip it and let's see if that works.

Thanks.

Never used the program before so I think it should be recent version.  I used the link.

In any case, try this one

We'll address those startup items shortly. Some of them will be taken care of by the following. Please uninstall the following programs.

SUPERAntiSpyware

SpywareBlaster 5.4

Skype™ 7.18 (Unless you use this software. If you do then please keep it)

MCShield ::Anti-Malware Tool

McAfee WebAdvisor

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware version 2.2.0.1024

Icecream Screen Recorder version 2.68 (If you use this software then I would update to the newest version 3.0 as there were performance enhancements for 64-bit systems)

Also can you tell me the version of CryptoPrevent that you have? If you open up the program it should tell you the version on the title bar of the window.

Will get started on those now.

I feel like some of those was recommended by this website though to keep virus/malware out though?

In any case, I'll remove them, just let me know what my new weekly routine should be to keep stuff out.

Also, I run SUPERAntiSpyware once a week and invariably it finds 70+ items every week that need to be cleaned.  Will we find another way to do what this program does?

Yes some of these programs are recommended and we will re-install some however I want to get your computer humming along again and then we can put some of them back on. No worries.

When is the last time you manually checked for definition updates in this program?
