Crucial and MrMemory both offer 2x 4Gb Ram upgrades for my All in One Medion  desktop PC.

If I take out the 2 x 2Gb origiinal RAM and install the 2 x 4Gb RAM I get the blue screen. If I install 1 x 4Gb chip I get the blue screen. If I reinstall the 2 x 2Gb Ram everything works again.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system.

I have queried Medion and received a reply saying that the maximum RAM is 4Gb.

Any suggection?

Hi graymac, and welcome to our forum.

:welcome:

If you go here:

www.crucial.com

and allow the crucial scanner to scan your system then it will come up with the detailed specifications of the exact form type and specification of RAM that your computer requires.

It will also describe in some detail the existing RAM and the RAM sockets available and the maximum RAM that each socket can safely accept.

It's slightly worrying that you are trying to install 8Gb of Ram when Medion say the maximum your machine can handle is 4GB...

(There is often a limit on the maximum RAM that each RAM socket can accept...)

Regards

Hi Paws

Many thanks for the comments. I have rechecked on the crucial website and :

1 - Crucial result from entering PC description

 Your Medion Akoya P4020 D
system specs as shipped
memory

    Maximum memory: 8192MB
    Slots:2 (2 banks of 1)

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory

2 - Crucial result from system scan

 Your Medion Akoya P4020 D
system specs as shipped
memory

    Maximum memory: 8192MB
    Slots:2 (2 banks of 1)

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

    2GB   2GB

3 - The email from Medion states:

Dear Mr Macmillan,

Thank you for contacting us.

The maximum RAM and specifications below:

2x 2048 MB DDR3 SO-DIMM (PC3-10600/1333 MHz) 4 GB max.

I first looked up Crucial, bought the recommended, compatible, pair of 4Gb RAM  chips and, only when I had problems did I email Medion.

I contacted Crucial who said return the chips and we will replace them. This I did and I still have the same problem.

Any suggestions?

All the best

Graeme

Hi Graeme
OK, all understood.

Crucial give a guarantee that if you follow their recommendations then they will replace them

I would be inclined to contact them (they have an excellent help desk) and there is not a lot they don't know about compatible memory!

It might be wise to give them a call and ask for their assistance
Here's the contact details for the USA

Let us know how you get on
