Hi,

 

I am trying to add a Sony STD-9000 tape drive to my old computer which has an IDE hard drive running windows, so I can restore data on some backup tapes. I purchased a SCSI card and a 50pin female to female cable connector and added them to my computer. No other software or software drivers have been added.

 

When I turn on my old computer running windows I get the following startup messages:

 

NO SCIS Boot Device Found

 

SCSI BIOS Not Installed

 

Disk Boot Failure 

 

Can some-one please give me a step by step instruction on what I need to do to fix these messages in order to be able to use the tape drive to restore taped data? Also, is there anything else that I need to do eg install drivers etc?

You should check the BIOS settings to see if you can disable booting from the SCSI controller. Also, watch when the machine starts up to see if there is a message to type something to get into the SCSI settings.

 

What is happening is that your machine is thinking that it should boot from a SCSI device instead of the IDE drive.
