I'm starting to begin having issues with IE 11.  I'm running win 7 64 bit.  It won't close at all at times or is unresponsive and freezes up to where I need to reboot .  I've run malware a couple times the past couple days with no issues.  Is there anything I could check for?  I don't know if this has anything to do with it but at first I accepted a free win 10 offer but later decided not to install.  Bombarded with wanting to install.  Thanks

1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso
and save it to your Desktop:
2. Right-click VEW.exe and Run AS Administrator
3. Under 'Select log to query', select:

* System
4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
* Error
* Warning

Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:

1. Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.

Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application.  (Each time you run VEW it overwrites the log so copy the first one to a Reply or rename it before running it a second time.)

Still waiting on your Application log but your System log shows a lot of disk problems.

1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check. C:
2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
4. Check both boxes and then click Start.
You will receive the following message:
The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?
Click Yes to schedule the disk check.  Reboot.

Once it boots back up repeat the disk check for each or your other drives even if they are just USB drives.  Probably won't need to reboot for them to run.

Get the free version of Speccy:

http://www.filehippo...download_speccy (Look in the upper right for the Download
Latest Version button  - Do NOT press the large Start Download button on the upper left!)
Download, Save and Install it.  Tell it you do not need CCLEANER.    Run Speccy.  When it finishes (the little icon in the bottom left will stop moving),
File, Save as Text File,  (to your desktop) note the name it gives. OK.  Open the file in notepad and delete the line that gives the serial number of your Operating System.
(It will be near the top about 10 lines down.) Save the file.  Attach the file to your next post.  (More Reply Options, Choose File, Open, Attach This File)

Both your hard drives are getting old and shaky and are showing lots of errors.  I would clone them immediately before they fail completely.

I hope you have run disk checks on them.

Once you have run new VEW logs and post them.

You might try running IE without add-ons and see if that works better:

Copy the next line:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore" -extoff

Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue.  Right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied line should appear.
Hit Enter.  Internet Explorer should open with add-ons disabled.

If that doesn't work then in IE, Click on the Gear then on Internet Options then Advanced.  Click on the Reset button then Reset.  If that doesn't help try it again but check the Delete Personal Settings box before the last Reset.

I think it looks better but I should have had you clear the alarms first:

Right click on  Computer and select Manage Then click on the arrow in front of Event Viewer. Next Click on the arrow in front of Windows Logs Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application.

Reboot and run the VEW logs again.

This one is trivial and an easy fix.  Download the attached Fix10.zip file.

Right click on it and Extract All.  Double click on fix10.vbs

This one is not so trivial.  Are there any hard drives that you have not checked?  Is there a disk in your DVD player?

Log: 'System' Date/Time: 04/07/2016 5:22:43 AM

The default transaction resource manager on volume E: encountered a non-retryable error and could not start.  The data contains the error code.

Supposedly if you copy the next 2 lines

del c:\windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine\*.blf
del c:\windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine\*.regtrans-ms
Then Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator,  Right click and Paste (or Edit then Paste) and the copied lines should appear.
Hit Enter.

That will clear them on the next reboot.  There are also several backup programs and VM programs that seem to cause these.

The HP Network Devices Support service terminated with the following error:  The specified module could not be found.

We can fix these:

Search for

services.msc

hit Enter.  The Services Window should open.

Find

Windows Media Player Network Sharting Service and right click and select Properties.  Change the Startup Type: from Automatic(Delayed Start)  to Disabled  then OK.

Now find the HP Network Devices Support   and change its Startup Type: to Disabled.  OK.

Now Find

Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework and change its Startup Type: to Automatic. OK.

Close the services Window.

Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage (Continue) Then click on the arrow in front of Event Viewer. Next Click on the arrow in front of Windows Logs Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application.

Reboot.

Run VEW again as before and let's see how we did.

Cloning is very easy especially on a desktop.  You just need some new SATA desktop  drives of the same or bigger capacity..  There are lots of free cloniing programs http://www.techrepub...-cloning-tools/

and usually your drive maker will also offer one.  Just avoid Seagate drives.  They don't hold up.  The best drives are Western Digital Blacks but the Blues aren't bad either..

To clone the C: you could remove your second drive and stick your new drive in its slot.  Then clone using the C: drive as the source and the new drive as the destination.  Then shut down, put the new drive in the old C:'s slot then test it by booting.  To clone the other drive depends on whether you have a third slot for the drive.   If so no problem just remember which is source and which is destination.  If you don't have a third slot then you have two choices.  You remove your nice newly cloned C drive and put the second new in its slot then boot from a CD or USB that has the cloning software or you get a USB to SATA adapter for about $11 at amazon.  Then the new drive goes in the adapter and you clone as you did the original.

Bed time for me.

I have another drive that is partitioned into two drives that I didn't do a check.  So here are the results after having the three drives checked.  I did nothing you mentioned in your previous post.  Now let's see if the results are any different.  Thank you for all your help.  Bedtime for me also.

Still looks the same assuming this was from your last reboot.  Let's see if we can ID the drive in question:

Copy the next two lines:

wmic diskdrive list > \junk.txt
notepad \junk.txt
Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator.  Right click and Paste (or Edit then Paste) and the copied lines should appear.
Hit Enter if notepad does not open.  Copy and paste the text from notepad into a reply.  Close notepad.  Close the Command Window.

You can do the other stuff too.  It won't have any effect on this problem.

I did as said but as I entered the two lines in the command prompt it dropped the first line and left only the second line.  When I pushed enter it said that notepad is not recognized as a internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
