Can anyone help me out. I had a harddrive crash and had a new harddrive installed but I did not have the recovery cd's. I had to order them from HP but I will not have them until the end of next week this is not good for me!!! I have a hp pavillion 513x and I have access to a compaq pressario is there a way I can copy files from the compaq to format the hp harddrive and install an operating system. Thanks

no, windowsxp is very machine specific---you cannot simply move a harddrive from one machine to another like you could in earlier versions. Even if you copied the drive, bit by bit, the resulting OS would not function.

You will have to wait for the recovery disks, or buy a copy of windows.
