I have only 150MB of free space on my LG LS620 phone and I frequently get "running out of space" error messages. FWIW, I have an external card in the phone with 27GB of free memory.

 

Is it possible to upgrade the size of the internal memory? Beyond transferring all my photos from the DCIM to the external card, what else can I do to free up space in the existing internal memory?

You cannot expand the internal memory of an Android device. You can remove apps to free up space, and some apps allow installation to the SD card
