recently making a pc, when i hit the power button the led fan turns on for a second than stops. The cpu heatsyncs fan also turns on for a second than stops. I have a z97 motherboard r7 260x gpu (idk name of power supply but its 850 watts) i3 4170 cpu 2 4gb ram sticks of ballistic ram ddr3 and a wd blue 1tb hard drive. someone please help i was up until 3 am last night trying to turn it on nothing worked sadly

Your issue may be simple, like an incorrectrly seated plug, all way up to a dead part, so we will start with a basic check, please complete it, even if you have done it beore.

 

1.   With the PSU switched off, but still plugged onto a socket. > Press the case power on button and hold it down for 10 seconds, > take anti static measures by briefly touching a metal part of the computer case.   This will ground yourself, discharging  any static stored in your body.  Allays ground yourself before working inside the computer and when handling parts.  

 

2.   Switch off and disconnect the monitor, > disconnect power to the video card and remove it. > remove the RAM, > Disconnect all other cables to the MB, (except the 24 pin main cable, (make sure it is fully seated and the locking tab is engaged).

 

3.   Connect the 8 pin ATX 12v cable, making sure the locking tab is fully engaged, MB manual page #6, item #2. > connect the CPU cooler fan plug to 4 pin MB header, MB manual, page #6, item #24.  > Find the 2 pin pwr plug coming from the case pwr switch, connect to the 2 pwrbtn pins on the System Panel Header, MB manual P#18.

 

4.   Switch on the PSU, > press the case power button, >   PSU and CPU fans should spin up and keep going, > Press and hold down the case power button for 4+ seconds to shut down.

 

Please post back results.

Not had any response from you!!   Have you solved your problem?   Was the 12V plug not fully seated?   An update would be appreciated as it may help others with similar problems to find a solution.
