Okay using Open Office, I made a resume and it turned out that there are too many pages. And the characters are too large. I would like to either shrink the image down if that is possible or either make the font smaller even if I have to keep the number of pages I have. I was hoping to lessen the fonts and take it from say 5 pages to 2.5 to 3 pages max. What can I do. Do I change it to a different file, I don't have Office to change it to a .doc file. Can someone give me there opinion on how to solve this problem. And if you know how to give step by step directions that would help.
Want to shrink down a resume.

I would suggest just highlighting all the pages at once and adjusting the font size to what you wish to use for all pages. Of course, this only works if you have all text the same font size. Otherwise, you'll have to highlight the sections of text you wish to decrease in font size. You might also look at your margin settings and the paragraph formatting. OpenOffice (or OfficeLibre) have very good help topics or you can visit the sites to find answers.

Hi taylor1277 and welcome to our forums,
Hopefully the answer from Astra Nut gives you all the information you asked for.
However on the general principles of writing a resume or cv the presence of "white space" on the page, the margins selected and the actual layout is often of great importance to ensure that your resume actually gets in front of a decision maker, and is not put straight in the bin by staff who have been tasked with screening all the resumes received.
Changing font size is one option but do remember that if the resume is not easily read and with key feature at the beginning then many people responsible for hiring decisions tend to move swiftly on to others that are more easily read.
In general terms a resume should be as long as it needs to be, to obtain the interview, if that is the purpose of constructing it. However its also fair to say that anything over 2 well spread out pages is for specialist use only.
Open office can save documents in .doc file format so that it can be opened by Microsoft Word, but if you use any fancy formatting do check that it is rendered correctly in MS Word, should you be sending it electronically.
hope this helps and there are some useful tips in this article:
