I have issue with my Dell 3521. When i ON the power button, lappy is not getting Power On but i can see the power button glow.

I have tried below

1 removed battery
2 removed power cabel
3 holding power button for 30 sec to discharge static energy.
4 power on the laptop without battery

still i can see the same issue.. only power light was on, it is not going off eventhouh i press the powerbutton to power off for long time

What can be the issue ? how can i resolve it ? should i have to give it for service.? Kindly let me know what can be done.

Repeat the above steps, remove the RAM, guide here leave the RAM out, reconnect only the AC adaptor, turn on the power and press the On button, post back and let us know if there was any change in the behaviour.

Not a good sign I`m afraid  :(

Best suggestion is to take the notebook to a local tech store and ask them if they will test the notebook with one of their AC adaptors, if yours is faulty it may not be putting out enough juice to power the notebook or charge the battery, the store may do the test free of charge or for a small fee, please ask them first.

If the behaviour is the same with a known good power supply you are looking at a couple of possible causes, a failed MB (this includes the soldered circuit) a failed power button board or a short circuit.

Not heard back from you srinadh, do you still require assistance or is the issue now resolved, an update would be appreciated.

Hi phill,

I went to the service center, they said its no display power on problem, and also said there might be some mother board problem. Can it be a mother board problem?? as you mentioned the problem is because of  these reasons  a failed MB (this includes the soldered circuit) a failed power button board or a short circuit. It will cost me more bucks if it is a mother board issue   :upset: .

I guess it will be wise to take a new notebook.

Hello srinadh,

I went to the service center, they said its no display power on problem,

Not sure what they mean by the above, it could mean that the MBs video chip has failed or that the screen itself is not getting any power from the MB, both are motherboard related and any repair or replacement is not a financially viable option.

In case you are not already aware, if it was a problem with the screen the computer would at least start up and allow you to connect the notebook to an external display for testing purposes, the fact that the computer is not attempting to start suggests serious hardware failure with the MB being most likely and especially if the internal cooling fan does not spin up.

Dell inspiron 15-3521 not turning on issue: So i have a dell inspiron 15 3521, about a year ago, it started turning on, but wouldn't charge. Then, the battery completely died and it wouldn't turn on. Also, when i plugged the charger in, the light on the charger unit turned on then off. I then proceeded to buy a new battery and charging unit. It turned on perfectly and worked well, but the battery wouldnt charge, and when the battery's charge was all out, it would start up, show the windows loading screen for 30-60 seconds and then mysteriously power off. (Same result with battery+charger in) When i tried turning it on with just the charger in, the front indicator lights would turn on for a few seconds, then turn back off. I tried getting rid of the static built up by pressing the power button down for 30 seconds, but no progress. I know that the outlet is working perfectly, the battery works well, just doesnt have a charge, and has been cleaned. I think the problem is either with the laptop not accepting power (for lack of better words) or the charger not producing enough power. All help is appreciated, and needed... Thank you! :)
