Had a slip, just decided to upgrade to intel and this happened. Not sure to buy a new one, but im gonna run some test first. what do yall think?
Scratched motherboard, how bad does it look

The top of the scratch you can see where it skipped over the circuit board traces. Closer to the bottom it looks like it may have passed straight through them. Doesn't look good. But that being said it could all be superficial top layer damage. Won't know until you test it.

okay awesome about to run prime 95, should i just be looking for any errors?

Run a memtest86 and Prime 95. Looks like those traces are probably RAM related, but hard to say for sure. Modern motherboards contain many layers. If it's stable during those tests, you're probably good to go.

Alright awesome, doing it now, so fresh i was still installing drivers haha. Gonna run mem test now, thanks for your advice and help!

It is hard to tell from the photo, but look to see if it is only the coating that is scratched vs. the actual traces being damaged. From the look of it, it appears to just be the coating.

thanks for the comment, i had to go out and get a water cooler to test further with prime 95, but 0 error on memtest and so far so good. Gonna see what my temps are and try to see what happens tonight.
