Not only am I new to this forum, but I'm also new to computers. I will appologize for posting to the wrong forum. I didn't read enough before I got ahead of myself. I have already searched this site for my problem, and found two others with same. myasam on 5/18/04 and help52 on 5/31/04. Help52 describes my problem best but the string ends abruptly. I have downloaded hijackthis and scanned my computer so i will post the log here and hope that you gals, guys, geeks can help. I struggle shutting it down and get the BSOD(doing some homework) and neither option there works. Here is my log and thanks. If I have inadvertantly skipped something or included something that I shouldn't have, I will be embarrassed but still quite hopeful that one of the bright will still help one of the dim.

I have removed the suggested items from Ditto and everything appears to be fixed. Since I am a little on the computer slow side, I will continue to monitor as well as I can but my shutdown problem is gone. Thanks to Ditto and here is my new log.

Still some baddies hanging out in your machine. Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following:

If you don't use AOL, fix this one too:
O4 - Startup: America Online 5.0 Tray Icon.lnk = C:\America Online 5.0\aoltray.exe

If you don't want the Quicktime tray icon, fix this one as well:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Call me slow (I've been called worse), but what do you mean "remove the following"? How?

Quote from The Other Side and Staff
"Still some baddies hanging out in your machine. Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following:

C:\Program Files\Toolbar\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WINTOOLS\
C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

I have enabled my computer to show the hidden files but I do a search for what you';ve asked me to remove and I get many files listed. Do I remove all files that begin with "C:\program Files\Toolbar\ ? I could really use an explanation as to what you need me to actually do. You guys probably hate dealing with people like me but I am trying my best to keep up with you. I will Thank you ahead of time for help and hope that I am not wasteing your time.
By the way, my computer took a real dump on me for the last couple of days and with the patient help of my ISP I am back online. Still occassionally getting the BSOD but not nearly as often.

Just go into "My Computer", then the "C:" drive, then to the file or folder indicated and delete it. After deleting them all, empty te recycle bin, and go on with the instructions.
