I have just realized the beauty in virtual computers and now I have a question about what the physical components may have to say about it. I'd like to have a Windows 7 as a guest computer on top of my Windows 7 host computer... to keep my host as clean as possible. But what will my activated host Windows say about another Windows activation on top of it?
I realized that I can convert old Acronis backups into virtual hard disk files (*.vhd), which was good since I always take a backup as the first thing I do when bying a new computer. I had a clean backup from my old (dead) laptop and a clean backup from the one I use today... which both ran just fine in a VM. I also have the activation keys to both of them. So option 1 is to activate the OS from the old laptop. But what will my host Windows say about that... an activation with a different key on top of it? Option 2 is to activate the OS backup from my host, which (in a way) could be seen as "same key used in different computers". What will it say about that? Will it react at all?
So the main concern isn't really if it the activations will work. I can just delete the VM and make a new one when it says "0 days left". It's more about if I can activate it and keep it without causing some kind of conflict and affecting my "real" activation.
