Hello I have a boot problem I thought it was the old hard drive so I replaced it with a brand new one and reinstalled the os and everything worked ok that day.

The next day had boot problems again.

File:\Boot\BCD

The boot configuration data for your pc is missing or corrupt.

 

So here is what I have tried so far.

I used the instillation disk and booted into the part at the start with cmd prompt and typed and none of below worked.

 

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

 

attrib -r -s -h c\:boot\bcd

 

del c:\boot\bcd

 

bcdboot c:\windows

 

bootrec /rebuildbcd

 

Iget one healthy post beep at the start and no hardware seems to be faulty that i can tell.

I ran avast boot scan, tdskiller, mrbscan, malwarebytes/rootkit, rougekiller, emisoft emergancy,  all came up clean.

AVG boot kit came up clean but showed errors in the mbr and agmer scan listed stuff but i don't think any of it is malicous. I will enclude the gmer report and avg boot kit one hopeing it can shine some light.  

I also took the machine apart cleaned it and that hasn't worked.

I have tested the memory all fine.

I really don't know what else it could be but something is killing the mbr at every start of the days boot. Here's the odd thing once I can get into the os it then will restart ok with no problems its when it's left off over night the next day it all goes wrong.

can anyone shed any light at all on what is going on here please.

I checked the drive with the program you said and all reports as good.

Its a brand new hard drive. I probably didn't explain to well. The old hard drive first started to do this and was starting to report as faulty with many corrupt sectors and couldn't be fixed so when it wouldn't boot I thought it was the drive so I got this brand new one which also doesn't boot.

Bootrec /fixmbr and /fixboot worked but bootrec /rebuildbcd did not and I could not get it to work.

 

One question I do this with the start up disk at boot?

Diskpart

List disk

Select disk X

List volume

List disk
Select disk X
List volume

Replace X letter with your hard disk assigned disk number.

 

It will be fantastic if you can post screenshot of these commands.

I done what you both told me to but was unable to get a print screen from the screen can you tell me how it is possiable to get a print screen from the cmd screen at boot please thank you.

 

I will type ok after each command if it wnet right and if not a description.

bcdedit /export c:BCD_backup - ok

C: - ok

cd boot - ok

I also checked the drive is active in disk management and it is and with msconfig.

What does volume in drive C has no label mean please. I'm also writing everything in my book so I learn from this.

It didn't boot first time but did second. I had an idea what if I install a linux distro on the machine then reinstall windows would this over write and make all new again?

I just wondered if installing linux then back to windows would make the boot sector new again and fix the issue?

I don't no much about this area of computers

I wonder why my old hdd failed to boot so I put this one in a brand new one and installed windows and it then began to not boot.

It should have made the boot sector new again like you say. I have once tried a reinstall just putting win 10 back on but it was only stable for 2 days. maybe some hardware is failing then. Burnin test shows all as OK and mem test86 shows all as ok. I hope now it will boot OK and stay ok haha.
