Bootup issues

When I attempt to bootup the pc after going through the xp splash screen the monitor goes blank, though the HDD light is still flashing as if it is booting... the monitor works on another pc, so I am sure that is not the issue... any Ideas?

By 'splash screen' do you mean the login prompt, or the XP Logo with the status bar at the lower part of the screen?

nevermind, I reformatted the partition, and no longer have the issue
