Hi,

I am trying to update my windows vista 64 home premium service pack 2 desktop so I can do a back-up, clone the hard drive. Since last night it has stayed on 'checking for updates'. I stopped it about noon when there was no progress. Deleted the software distribution folder contents, rebooted and tried again. Same thing. It was last updated in May 2016 so there are likely a number of updates that need to come through. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thank you

Lisa

Hi Lis2,

Have you tried manually downloading the update and installing? Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669
