I have been running an ancient computer running on windows 95 on a cable modem for a couple of years now. I got myself a laptop and now I just tried to plug the same cable modem cable into my laptop, and i get the "limited or no connectivity error" saying that the computer couldn assign a network address or smth...

I would appreciate some help

Hello Toddie,

The first thing you should do, is plug the 95 machine back in and verify that it still works. If so, we will want to get the settings off of it so we can apply them to the laptop in case everything has been manually assigned. Once you are there, click Start>Run, type; command, at the command prompt, type; winipcfg /all Then post the results, You do not have to include the full addresses for privacy purposes, but the other information is helpful.
