I have an hp dv9000. Windows Xp is the os. I don't have a backup disk or the windows startup disk. I didn't get one with the computer and silly me I never made one. I have tried to run a chkdsk from the c drive and it only runs to about 55 percent, it then automatically shuts down. I have been reading up on it using the internet but there are so many different references I'm not sure what else to try. I am not a computer guru but I really need to try and fix this myself because of financial reasons. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.
