Hello, hope all is well.
As a laptop experts and users, could you please tell me which do you consider better for 3D modeling and high rendering programs as an architecture student use, Lenovo Y520 or Lenovo Ideapad 510? considering the high cost difference, does the Y520 pay it self for its lifetime and upgrades?

The Lenovo Legion Y520 can kick the Lenovo Ideapad 510's butt. :)

Yaah I know, but for the double cost, is it worth it? would it offer a longer upgradable life?

No, and probably not.

IMO, the biggest problem with the Y520 is too much glaring red everywhere.

So for an overall case view, which one you chose?

It's not just about processor, but ram and the newer video card.  Get the best you can afford.  Also Dell, MSI, and others have released similar "budget" gaming laptops recently that you should look at.  Also laptops should be going on sale soon for "back to school".
