Two devices on the same network are trying to use the same IP address ... which won't work.

Does this mean another computer is trying to access my computer?  Is there a danger concern here?

Access: No

Danger: Not really

Concern: Yes ... simply because it won't work.

Just like telephone numbers and home addresses, IP addresses (within a single network) must be unique. If more than one person had the same telephone number, which one should an incoming call be delivered to? If more than one home had the same physical address, which one should the post office deliver incoming mail to? Same holds true with IP addresses. When your computer requests to see the page, let's say: http://news.google.com, your computer's IP address is attached to that request so that your router knows which IP address, in your network, to deliver the page to.

If one of the devices on your network is already using a particular IP address, another device that then requests to use that same IP address will receive the error: "There is an I.P. Address conflict with another system on the network"

How do I locate  my I.P. Address on my PC?  I want to check and see if the I.P. Address on my pc is the same what that shows on my IPad as both machines may have been on at the same time although at the time that i received the notification I was not browsing.
