VLC Media PLayer plays in smaller screen the previously

I am having difficulty watching flv's on VLC Media PLayer due to fact that the screen used to be larger than it is now, (not counting "Full Screen" selection. Am I not configuring something correctly? I thought at first it was the program so i uninstalled it and re-installed latest version for Windows XP. The films now play 2/3 of previous size/
