Until an hour ago I could open Chrome fine. But -- after rebooting my W10 desktop -- I find that I now get no response when clicking the Chrome icon. I can however open IE or  Firefox and both of them work fine. Coincidentally, I used to be able to use Open Office Writer but now I cannot open OOD, on any of the browsers.

Whatever is going on, I wonder. ..... batpark

Try launching Chrome from it's location:
C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application

If that works you can create a new shortcut.
If it doesn't work I'd consider reinstalling Chrome from link below:

zep 516:

Thanks. Great idea, but it did not work. To be sure I followed your directions correctly: Using File Explorer I went to C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application. Then Rclicked Application and selected OPEN. I got no response.

Before I try your second suggestion -- to reinstall from the site you indicated -- is there any way I can save all my Chrome bookmarks before I reinstall? For the future, is there a way to make a copy(ies) of my bookmarks, maybe by saving a screenshot of the bookmarks?

Hello,

If you have Bookmarks that you want to save, you want to do that first.

Export / Import Bookmarks.
