So last night i tried to connect to a printer's wifi at my house and previously i was connected to the house wifi with no problems. However, not only did the printer not work it completely messed up my wifi connection. There is a red cross next to the wifi and it says the connection is excellent but when i try and connect it says 'the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network'. I typed this into forums and i have tried restoring, deleting a config file, changing the security type (which i may have accidentally done unless the printer has changed a file) and nothing works. It is a virgin media hub and i am assuming it should be WPA2 but when i type that in and enter the password it doesnt work. It asks for the network security key twice, accepting it the first time (i think so anyway as it moves to the next step) and then asks me again and doesnt accept the format. It is driving me crazy. I have deleted the connection and reconnected. What else is left?

Guessing you setup a HomeGroup in Windows? If so, you'll need to connect your system to the HomeGroup.

Log into your router and check all of the settings, to make sure that you know what they are.  Then create a new network connection in Windows, using the information you gathered from your router.
