hi my mother gave me her laptop.. its a acer aspire 5517.. 2 gb 64 bit.. amc athion processor tf-20 1.60 ghz

she hadnt used it for a couple years...  i tried using it on guest.. and couldnt connect to wifi... so... that started me trying to fix things.... i got into her administrator side... and was able to connect to wifi... and had 106 windows updates to do... that took 2 days.. it would go so far.. then stop.. but finally it worked.... now.. tho.. when i open any page.. it takes me to the... this connection is untrusted page... and lets me choose to allow it..

but thats with every single new site i google..  the date and  time are correct... i was wondering if someone could help with this issue... and check it out.. for making sure its working properly... its laggy.. and im not sure if its even worth saving... i think she only wants to use it for googling.. perhaps watching youtube..

Given that there's quite a lot that's been done to this computer in the recent past, if there are no important documents on there I might suggest restoring the machine to factory settings and setting it up as a new computer. That should make it run a bit faster, if nothing else. **this is just a suggestion, I'm sure your "untrusted" issue is solvable, but given the circumstances and the fact that it's being generally slow and icky, a restore might be in order**

I agree reinstalling or resetting Windows would be the best fix. If not, here are a couple suggestions:

 

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies, cache and temp internet files. You could also have issues with web certificates. Is this happening with only one browser or multiple? You can also try resetting the browsers to defaults.
