I'm trying to reset a friends old dell desktop to factory settings; erasing all files. I've backed up everything that he wants kept. I've tried a couple different ways with no luck. I'm not sure if it originally came with an installation CD, but I def don't have one now.

Any help?

To avoid us possibly suggesting things already tried can you let us know what you have done so far.

Do you have or do you need to obtain the Microsoft XP product key.
