Why, when using a flash-drive in Command Prompt mode, is the drive sometimes assigned D: and other times assigned E:? I never understood this; would appreciate someone explaining the convention to me. Thank you

.FWIW, I am using a laptop with W10 or W11.

Because drive letters get dynamically assigned so what ever is next in the sequence and is available gets assigned if D: is not available it will go to E: instead.

Chipkid: Ha. AS easy as that! Thanks.  ...batpark
