I had to reformat my card due to a transfer error. Is there a reason my camera did this? I have had it and the card since 2011. It has not been able to upload pics from the cord for a while now. Do you think my camera or card is just showing its age? I use it a lot. I took some pics again and they transferred to my laptop, a Dell Latitude E6420 with Windows 7. Do you think the problem is my camera or my card or my laptop or did it just randomly glitch out?

7 years on the same SD card? The fact that wear leveling is built in to flash memory cards is a good indicator that there is some wear . . . meaning that eventually they will wear out. The relatively modest cost is a small price to pay to minimize the risk of losing images.

If you have the same problem with a new, well-known brand card, then I would tend to think there is a problem with the camera.
