installing virtualenv for django ...errors with pip (windows)

I’ve tried using  pip  in many variations…  I ALWAYS  get the error message:

File ”C:\pip.exe\__main__.py”, line 5, in <module>  Import Error: cannot import name ‘main’

I’ve spent I am trying to  install ‘virtualenv’ on my windows 8 laptop so I can use a tutorial to learn DJANGO.  about 2 days trying alternatives… desperate for help… thanks
