I have also encountered SpySheriff and as per instructions in above specified thread am performing the same instructions.
Ewido is currently scanning/cleaning(for about an hour now-27% done) . Some other notes on SpySheriff....I went to Program files, clicked uninstall and it did nothing. Also I have a blue desktop background with a black box in the center large font in red saying, "SYSTEM STOPPED" followed by regular white font:"System has been stopped due to serious malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected. It is recommended to use spyware removal tool to prevent data loss. Do not use the computer before all spyware removed." I cannot change the background wallpaper.
Hopefully ewido will solve this problem. Thanks for your help. I will save and post results when scan is finished.
