Hello, Bevfran. Welcome to Geeks To Go Forums.

I think you would get some help if you posted your topic in this subforum at http://www.geekstogo...alware-removal/

Or, would a moderator please move Bevfran's topic to the Virus, Malware, Spyware Removal subforum.

Ask for RKinner, this malware expert is probably the BEST on the entire Internet.

:welcome:   Bevfran37,

Thread moved to the more appropriate Hardware, Components and Peripherals forum.

So I plugged in the laptop with the electric cord and proceeded to use laptop. Thats when it died on me.

What do you mean by died, did the computer turn off completely or did the screen go black and the notebook stayed powered up.

Since then Ive gotten a new battery, and my computer turns on now. However it wont boot so that I can sign in.

If the notebook powers up but has a black screen there are a number of possible causes, the computer has been toggled to external display only, screen or associated component failure (backlight/Inverter on older notebooks) bad or loose video cable, bad motherboard (this includes any integrated video chip)  CPU failure.

Can you post the full brand and model name or number of the notebook + describe the present situation with the screen, is it black, do you get the BIOS splash screen, any on screen error message/s.

I am sure that rkinner will appreciate your kind words but can I ask that you do not suggest that folk post on the malware removal forums for issues such as this one, there is no mention of malware in the OP of Bevfran37 + the symptoms that they describe are typical of a hardware issue, thank you for understanding and for your willingness to help others
