Hello,

Windows 7 Ultimate

I tried Avast free antivirus program. When I went online I couldn't connect to the web. Using Opera I can connect to google search and nothing else. Using Firefox I can't make any connection.

I uninstalled according to their protocol. The problem still exists. There were many small Avast files left in C:\windows\winsxs\manifests that I manually uninstalled.

When I open in safe mode with network, both browsers work fine. In regular mode, even when I turn off Zone Alarm - my normal software - I can't access the web.

Also I have one program, Hexographer (both in a Java and non-Java version) when I open it I can't access it even though it is running according to Task Manager. When I disconnect from the internet, this program opens and runs fine.

Any ideas?

My thanks,

Bruce

Have you tried using Windows' "System Restore" to roll Windows back to a previous state when your computer was functioning correctly? It allows you to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.
