I uninstalled Avast with the intention of installing Kaspersky     The install stops because it says I have to remove the Avast manually.  I can't find it anywhere in my programs.   How do I find this?

I ran the avast clear and everything seemed correct.  However after starting the install,  I receive an error that says the pc may contain an virus.  Where do I go from here?

Use IE and go to https://www.eset.com...online-scanner/

and click on SCAN NOW under ESET online Scanner.  Accept the terms then press Start (If you get a warning from your browser tell it you want to run it).

IF you don't use IE it will still work but you must download a program and run it. Takes a few hours

Sometimes it's not possible to uninstall Avast the standard way - using the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. In this case, you can use our un installation utility avast clear.

  1. Download avastclear.exe on your desktop
  2. Start Windows in Safe Mode
  3. Open (execute) the uninstall utility
  4. If you installed Avast in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
  5. Click REMOVE
  6. Restart your computer
