I put it in safe mode before you replied to be on the safe side. I go into troubleshooting, command prompt, and all i get is a black screen. No prompt area to enter anything. I have been trying to get out of it for 2 days now.

If you restart the computer does it boot directly to Safe Mode?

It did. I finally got it to restart normally. It is now accepting updates which it wasn't doing prior. There is 107 that needed to be downloaded.
