Hi,

Apologies if this information is elsewhere but I couldn't find it.

I have just purchased a new laptop and don't want to get infected.

There is nothing installed on it (in the way of anti virus, malware etc)

What would you recommend I install to prevent any possible attacks.. I ask as I know there are some applications that could do more harm than good if I install them.

Many thanks in advance.

dpm:

If you have Windows 10, then you have its Windows Defender, which is considered a very robust and capable anti-virus/anti-malware solution, and getting better all of the time.

If you want advice on choosing an anti-virus product, please see this topic over at Bleeping Computer.

Good luck and have a great day; and, don't forget about instituting a regular and thorough backup strategy! :)

Regards,

-Phil
