Hello All,

i have  WD Elements hard drive which can;t be seen in "My computer" - I can eject it  with "safely eject..." but can't open it.

  I once lent it to someone with a Mac and I suspect they messed it up for me. I am on windows.

So far I ve checked for update drivers and it says it is functioning properly.

It can be seen in Device Manager and it can be seen in Disk management,

It tells me things about partitions but when I right click on it I have limited availabilities.

I cant do anything but click on Delete Volume and Help.  All other functions are greyed out.

I tried programs such as Recuva or Ease US but they don't do anything really.

I would just like to open my external hard drive !

If anyone knows what to do .... thanks a lot !

Hello tuitui,

Can you upload an expanded/full screen screenshot of Disk Manager for us.

Access Disk Management via Run.

Press the Windows+R keys to open Run, type diskmgmt.msc in the empty box then press OK.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.
